20 Reasons to be Excited for Syracuse Football - #1

As we move closer to the 2011 Syracuse football season, Lots of Pulp counted down the top 20 reasons to be excited for the new year. Click here to read all the previous posts in the countdown.

We've listed many reasons why you should be excited about the 2011 SU Football season - 19 to be exact. But at the end of the day, fans only care about one thing: winning.

So without further ado ... the number one reason to be excited about the upcoming season ...


#1 – MORE OF THESE

Trophies are a football coach's best friend

We can talk about how much we love Doug Marrone for his discipline and thighs and all that junk until we're blue in the face. But none of it matters if you're not winning games.

I'm sure Greg Robinson was a nice guy. He must be nice if Rich Rodriguez decided to hire him, despite the fact that the last time RichRod saw him in person was while his WVU offense was racking up 55 points in the Carrier Dome. But obviously, Greggers didn't win, and obviously we all hated him for it. That's the job description, basically.

The best thing about Doug Marrone is he's finally put Syracuse in a position to feel like winners again.

Despite never beating South Florida in program history, we now expect this ...


Despite West Virginia's advantage in talent, we now expect this ...


Despite six years of frustration, we now expect this at the end of the season ...


And in time, we may even expect this again ...
