20 Reasons to be Excited for Syracuse Football - #7

As we move closer to the 2011 Syracuse football season, Lots of Pulp will be counting down the top 20 reasons to be excited for the new year.

Syracuse hasn't really had many teams' number in recent years. Wins against USF and WVU broke long losing streaks, so it's not like the Orange can really boast dominance over their Big East foes.

Except against one team ...

#7 - SEEING THIS IN THE DOME AGAIN ...

Why so serious, Greg?
Oh yeah, because your team sucks

OK, fine, two-consecutive wins doesn't exactly say Syracuse owns Rutgers. But it's more about how the Orange has won against their little brother from New Jersey.

Nov. 21, 2009 - Syracuse is in the middle of a rebuilding season in Doug Marrone's first campaign. A recent setback against Louisville made Orange fans wonder where the program was heading. But then, seemingly out of nowhere, the Orange CRUSHED the Scarlet Knights in the Carrier Dome, restoring order in the rivalry SU has dominated for the majority of its existence.

Not only did Syracuse win the game running away, they demoralized Rutgers by getting to the quarterback for NINE SACKS. The Scarlet Knights racked up an astounding 26 yards rushing in THE ENTIRE GAME. It was dominance from start to finish and sent the previously 7-2 Scarlet Knights into a year and a half (and counting) tailspin. Suck it, Schiano.

Nov. 13, 2010 - The Orange, once again coming off a disappointing loss to Louisville, needed just one more win to secure its first bowl bid since 2004. Rutgers comes in 4-4 and desperately needing a win to save its season. Despite not really playing well all game, SU finds a way to march down field in the closing minutes. Then Ross "Das Boot" Krautman simultaneously rejuvenates a fan base in Syracuse while crushing the meager hopes and dreams of another in Rutgers. In your house, bitches.
